Describe the Breese Stevens Field concert series. It’s become quite a Madison hit.
Our shows at Breese Stevens Field have been happening for the past three summers. With the 2018 series at Breese this summer, we have a great lineup with Queens of the Stone Age (5/22), Steely Dan + The Doobie Brothers (6/16), Ray LaMontagne with Neko Case (7/6), and Counting Crows (9/19).
Concerts at Breese Stevens are outdoors and provide that unique experience to see some big names in downtown Madison at a beautiful historical venue.
Tell us about FPC Live. You are a Madison institution!
FPC Live (formerly Frank Productions) has been a concert promoter in Madison for over 50 years. It’s been a family-owned business with over 50 full-time employees at our headquarters in Madison. We’ve recently merged with Majestic Live so we’re growing with the city.
FPC Live produces tours and concerts nationally and also locally here for Madison. We also produce Freakfest every Halloween on State Street and Live On King Street which is a free outdoor music series right outside the Majestic on King Street. The company works with some of the biggest names in music, from Metallica to the Beach Boys to Brantley Gilbert to Steve Martin and Elton John.
Any new shows to talk about – or showcases?
We’re always bringing in talent that we’re excited about, but beyond that, we are beyond excited for The Sylvee, our brand new venue to open up this September. We have been announcing shows for this fall, and our lineup is awesome. The venue is named after Sylvia Frank, who co-founded Frank Productions with her husband Herb Frank. It will be located on 800 block of East Washington Avenue. The capacity of the venue is 2,500 and we cannot wait to bring in even more talent to Madison.
What do your customers love most about your concerts and your promotions?
We work year-round to constantly bring in people’s favorite acts to their city. In Madison, we’re keeping things exciting with bigger shows and new opportunities like Breese Stevens Field shows.
We also work to give back to the city. The past two Octobers, our company organized a fundraiser for the Madison Area Music Association where Madison’s music venues donated a portion of each ticket sold towards the MAMA Music in Education Grant Pool.
What do you love about Madison – why is it a great fit for your company?
Madison is a great fit for FPC Live because it’s a city that supports its music scene with a lot of love. Madison is not the biggest city, but the amount of enthusiasm for music here is on a level of a major market scale.
The city also has eclectic tastes. There’s at least a little scene for many different types of music here and they are all supported strongly. Madison is a growing city and we’re looking to grow with it and provide a lot of quality entertainment for the city!
