Q: Tell us about the Capital City Food Tours

Capital City Food Tours began in April 2016 after I was inspired to bring a walking food tour that also incorporated history and architecture to the Madison area. I am the owner of the business, but I work with a lot of wonderful people in the community that make Capital City Food Tours possible.

My first tour was the Around the Square tour which takes place around the Capitol and I’m gearing up to open a new tour on Regent Street in the next few weeks!

Q: What happens during a Capital City Food Tour?

Capital City Food Tours offers guided walking and eating experiences. Our tours last 2-3 hours and allow guests to sample food and drinks at multiple restaurants while also learning about the history of the city.

My hope is to spread good synergies between locals, visitors, and businesses here in Madison. I believe that when you form an emotional connection to an experience, it makes it that much more memorable!

Something else that Capital City Food Tours offers are private tours which are perfect for work outings, bachelor/bachelorette parties, or family reunions. I can work with guests to create a tour that is custom to their preferences to make it as personal as possible.

Q: What do people love about the Capital City Food Tours?

I would have to say that my customers love the fact that they learned something and that they left feeling full. Food tours are a relatively new concept in the tourism world, so a lot of times at the end someone will say “I didn’t know what to expect on this, but it was a ton of fun.”

For people who live in Madison, they are always surprised when they walk away having learned or eaten something new. I absolutely love leading the tours and hope to show everyone the Madison that I have grown to love so much.

Q: What do you love about Madison – why is it a great fit for the tours?

Everyone says it, so I don’t mean to sound cliche, but there is just something so special about this city. What I love about Madison is that it never stops surprising me. The food scene, the outdoor life, the supportive community are just a few reasons why I love it here.

Food is definitely an important part of my business, and Madison definitely has an incredible food scene, but I’ve also discovered that Madison’s history is really remarkable too. Those two elements together create the perfect food tour city!
